Qus is considered to be one of the important tourist destinations in Egypt. It is a crowded district capital located near the old Apollinopolis Parva, where God Haroeris was the main deity. At present most of the things of this ancient city is lost, however, heaps of debris and some ciphered stones constructed into houses.

While talking about Qus, the El-Amri Mosque deserves mention since it is one of the most remarkable examples of Muslim architecture in the Upper part of Egypt. It has a basin made out of a single old stone abiding the name Ptolemy II Philadelphus.

Qus is in fact a major archaeological site of Egypt and is presently considered to be a major tourist spot. This Egyptian town of Qus was established in 1083. There are mainly two desolated gates in Qus and it is believed that, this is the remaining part of the temple of Harwer and Apollinopolis Parva.

Apollinopolis Parva is said to be the former name of Qus. In the 13th century the alternate route to the Red Sea was developed. Since then Qus replaced Qift as an important commercial hub. This is how the purpose of trading with Africa, Arabia, India and Yemen was served. Actually, this place became the second major Egyptian Islamic town after Cairo in the medieval age.
