The Governorate of Ismailia is one of the major destinations of Egypt. The total area occupied by the governorate is about 4482.8 sq km. Ismailia is situated on the west bank of Suez. This governorate of Egypt serves the Canal region as its capital.
Ismailia is located in a region that lies between Suez and Port Said. While on a travel to Egypt, tourists can visit the cities of Ismailia, Al-Tal Al-Kabeer, Fayed and Qantara, located in the Governorate of Ismailia. Earlier this governorate was known as the Timsah village. However, the governorate has been named after Khedive Ismail.

The distance between Ismailia and the Cairo city is about 120 km. Communication within the governorate can be made through the well-developed roadways. The roadway network facilitates the people to travel through the city of Ismailia from other parts of the governorate.

Tourist Spots in Ismailia
In Ismailia, there are several places of interest that tourists must visit. The Ismailia Regional Museum is one of them. It was built in 1932 and it has a rich collection of exhibits. Tourists can also visit the spot located near the Suez Canal, which has become important in Egypt. They can also visit the Bitter Lakes, Lake Timsah and the Mallaha Park in Ismailia.
