Tourists flock here to see the architectural brilliance of this medieval church that was erected by the order of King Valdemar I and the reputed Archbishop of his time known as Absalon. The 5 spired church was built under the brilliant craftsman called Esbern Snare who was also Archbishop Absalon's brother.
The city's tourism potential has been enhanced by the popular rococo architecture of Denmark which was initiated by the Lerchenborg family. The family's traces its roots to this medieval city as its original home is situated here and draws many tourists from all over the world.
