Greenland is actually an ice cap and situated very close to the North Pole. It has an arctic type of climate and is 14 times the size of England. The thickness of the ice cap is around 3 kilometers and in the Disco Bay Area it is found to be 100 meters above the line of water.

Since Greenland is close to the North Pole the climate is mainly cold and dry. Great temperature differences are felt as one moves from the north to the south. The most interesting aspect lies in the fact that a temperature of 10-15° C is considered to be warm and a temperature of-10° C is quite comfortable. Greenland attracts tourists from across the globe.
