Greenland is actually an ice cap and situated very close to the North Pole. It has an arctic type of climate and is 14 times the size of England. The thickness of the ice cap is around 3 kilometers and in the Disco Bay Area it is found to be 100 meters above the line of water.

Greenland is also the home of the world's most active glacier named Illulissat and moves at as speed of 25-30 meters a day. It is quite possible to visit the glacier from most of the towns of Greenland and one can take a helicopter to reach the boundary of it. The best time to visit Denmark is the lively spring season as the weather is at its best. The tourists visiting Greenland can embark on a series of action and adventure in the form of:

  • Summer Skiing
  • Heli-Skiing
  • Dog-Sledging

Some of the best international events are also hosted by Greenland and they can be termed as follows:

  • Arctic Circle Race
  • Ice Golf World Championship
  • Nuuk Snow Sculpture Festival

Since Greenland is close to the North Pole the climate is mainly cold and dry. Great temperature differences are felt as one moves from the north to the south. The most interesting aspect lies in the fact that a temperature of 10-15° C is considered to be warm and a temperature of-10° C is quite comfortable.
