The Colon cemetery is named after Christopher Columbus. It is known for its beautiful architecture and above all, for its legend. Colon is also known as the 'City of the Dead ' and it is here that the grave of La Milagrosa, a woman who died at child birth, lies. The legend that follows is that the bereaved husband came to her grave thrice everyday and knocked at the grave to inform his dead wife of his visit. Henceforth, the Cubans revere him as his official saint.
