Baracoa is one of the most important Cuban destinations, which was discovered by Diego Velázquez in 1511.
The historical essence of Baracoa can be well estimated by the fact that it was the first establishment and was also the very first capital of this largest Cuba.

The name of this Colonial city is derived from an Indian word, Baracoa , meaning close to the sea.

Loaction of Baracoa
Baracoa is located in the Guantanamo Province on the Bay of Honey of Cuba. It is situated at a distance of 236km form the north east of Santiago de Cuba, 150km from the northeast of Guantanamo. It is 332km to the east of Holguin.

Main Attractions of Baracoa
Some of the best attraction in the whole of Cuba is found in Baracoa which accounts for the growing number of tourists that visit this city every year, in all type of seasons. These fortresses are El Castillo de Santa Barbara, Fuerte de la Punta, and Fuerte Matachin are the three historical fortresses are the main attraction of this place.
