Kumbo is the second biggest city of Cameroon's northwest province. The city is an important part of the Bui division and is situated about 2000 meter above the sea level.
Germans were the first to visit Kumbo. The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart came to the city in the year 1912 and was successful in establishing their mission. Being the capital city of Nso kingdom, Kumbo city is mainly dominated by Bansi ethnis group. The native language of the people is Lamnso. Other languages like French, English, Oku, Djottin, Fulfulde and Hausa are widely used by the Kumbo people.
The health system of the city is well-maintained and it has two important hospitals namely Shisong hospital and the Banso Baptist hospital.
