September 16 , 2020
Japan's parliament has elected Yoshihide Suga as the country's new Prime Minister, following the resignation of Shinzo Abe last month due to ill health. The newly elected prime minister is ready to follow his predecessor's policies. The former PM Shinzo Abe held his final cabinet meeting on Wednesday and told media persons that he was proud of his almost eight-year stint in power. Suga easily clinched a poll for prime minister in the Diet, the lower house of the country. He got 314 out of 462 votes.
