Yellow Vest Protest in Paris Continue for Ninth Straight Weekend

  • “Yellow vest” protests enter 9th straight weekend against the economic reforms of French President Emmanuel Macron. The demonstrations in Paris were largely peaceful, especially in the Grands Boulevards shopping area. However, small groups of protesters broke out of the peaceful demonstration and reportedly threw bottles as well as other projectiles at the police. Reports say the French police tried to disperse the militant protesters from around the Arc de Triomphe monument by firing water cannon and tear gas. The estimates provided by the Interior Ministry show that on Saturday the maximum number of demonstrators were around 84,000. The number of protesters swelled from last Saturday but didn’t reach the record 282,000 protesters, estimated on November 17, 2019.
