World powers, Iran reach 'historic' nuclear deal
July 14 , 2015
After years of negotiations, the six world powers and Iran have reached a deal with Iran that will limit its nuclear activity in return for lifting economic sanctions.
While the Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described it as a “historic” agreement, the EU negotiator Federica Mogherini said it was a “sign of hope” for the whole world.
According to reports, the deal gives United Nations nuclear inspectors extensive access to sites inside Iran, but such access won’t be automatic.
Speaking from the White House, President Barack Obama said the deal demonstrated that US diplomacy “can bring about real and meaningful change.”
