World needs to move faster on Ebola, says Obama
September 26 , 2014
US president Barack Obama said the world was not showing enough urgency to check the spread of Ebola in west Africa, warning that a slow global response could mean the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives.
He said though there had been some progress in slowing the epidemic in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, the international community was “not moving fast enough”.
The president, who was speaking at the United Nations, urged countries and organizations to put in more resources on the ground.
