With more arrests, UK lowers threat level to 'severe'

  • As per reports, British security authorities have lowered the perceived threat level from ‘critical’ to ‘severe’. 11 men between ages 18 and 44 have been arrested so far, which British Intelligence believe is the core support group that helped 22-year old British born Libyan origin Salman Abedi carry out the Manchester suicide bombing. More arrests are likely. His father and brother are already in custody in Libya.

The attack has left 22 dead, including 7 children, and 116 injured, including 20 who are still in critical care.

The lowering of threat level will have the army being withdrawn from street level security but agencies remain on high alert with several major public events, including sports, are lined up in coming weeks.
