Wildfire in Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge near the Florida-Georgia Border Prompts Mandatory Evacuations

  • As per reports, mandatory evacuations started after wildfire in Okefenokee wildlife refuge near the Florida-Georgia border spread.

    So far, 79 people have been evacuated from the community.

    As mentioned by government officials of Charlton County, Georgia, the West Mims fire jumped state Highway 94 and moved towards the area.

    Schools remained closed throughout the county on Monday.

    More than 133,000 acres were burned by the fire.
