WHO warns of Ebola outbreak going out of control
August 2 , 2014
The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for greater urgency in tackling the Ebola epidemic, which has already claimed around 730 lives in West Africa.
Speaking after an emergency meeting with leaders of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, WHO head Margaret Chan warned that the virus outbreak “is moving faster than our efforts to control it”.
Chan said if the situation continued to worsen the consequences could be “catastrophic”.
Since the virus has struck one of the poorest parts of the world, controlling it is proving to be a big challenge for health workers.
