    South Africa's 24 year old Wayde van Niekerk shattered the 17 year old world record in the 400m race, set by the legendary Michael Johnson back in 1999. The 24 year old running sensation crossed the final line in just 43.03 seconds, finishing the race 0.15 seconds faster than Michael Johnson. Johnson himself called the promising South African a star in the making. Niekerk said, after winning, that everything went his way and thanked Johnson for setting up a great example. Meanwhile, British tennis player Andy Murray defeated Argentine Juan Martin del Potro 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5  to win second Olympic tennis singles gold, thereby becoming the first tennis player ever to win second tennis singles gold.
