Wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan have left 150,000 dead, says study

  • Wars in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan have left around 150,000 people dead including soldiers since 2001, according to a new US study.

And 162,000 people have been wounded in the region since America launched an offensive against the Taliban regime following the 9/11 attacks, the report by the Costs of War project says.

Worryingly, it says the Afghanistan war is intensifying, with the number of casualties seeing a significant rise in recent years.
