Voting in Syria for presidential election
June 4 , 2014
Bashar al-Assad is expected to win the presidential election and thousands of Syrians voted in government-controlled centers on Tuesday, June 3.
The election came in the middle of a three-year civil war, which has taken the lives of 160,000 people in the region. Assad faced two challengers, who weren't well-known before they declared their candidacy.
Reports suggest that many people didn't want to go behind the curtain in order to vote at a polling station in Damascus. Moreover, a box with pins was made available to those wanted to vote with blood, which is a symbol of patriotism.
