Voting Begins in Pakistan

  • Voting has begun for four provincial assemblies and lower house of parliament in Pakistan. As many as 106 million people have been registered to vote. Former star cricketer Imran Khan is in the race and is contesting against ex-leader Nawaz Sharif's PML-N. Special arrangements have been done to ensure the safe and secure voting procedure. Troops, hundreds of thousands in number, have been deployed to ensure the safety of the ballot opened at 03:00 GMT. However, according to the Human Rights Commission, there have been attempts to manipulate the elections. Voting will take place for 272 National Assembly seats.
