Volcano erupts in Ecuador
April 6 , 2014
Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador exploded for five-minutes, spewing a 6-mile column of ash. The geophysics institute of the region mentioned that the blast took place at 6:10 pm and a second shorter explosion followed right after.
The 16,480-foot Tungurahua has been erupting sporadically since 1999 and was revived on Feb. 1 with eruptions, which affected a third of the region's provinces. It also caused the temporary closing of an airport.
