Japan's biggest volcano erupts, flights canceled

  • Sep 15, 2015 - Japan’s largest active volcano erupted forcing cancellation of flights. The eruption led to spewing of thick clouds of ash into the air as high as two kilometers. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the volcano, Mount Aso, erupted on Monday morning causing disruption to air traffic serving Kumamoto Airport, which is located some 550 miles southwest of Tokyo. At least 20 flights were canceled on Monday.
