Virgin Galactic pilot unlocked device early, say investigators
November 5 , 2014
Investigators say that the SpaceShipTwo pilot who was killed in the crash over California’s Mojave desert moved a device meant for unlocking prematurely.
As per media reports, however, that action in itself might not have led to the disintegration of the Virgin Galactic space plane 45,000 ft above the ground, killing Michael Alsbury, a co-pilot.
Co-pilot Peter Siebold, who parachuted to the ground, escaped with injuries.
The US National Transportation Safety Board has emphasized that it would take several months to get to the bottom of the disaster.
