Violence kills up to 25 people in Nigeria
July 29 , 2013
25 people were killed during an attack by the vigilantes and retaliation by Islamic extremists in northeast Nigeria. Earlier this month, dozens of students were killed and some burned alive in the region.
Vigilante leader Aliko Musa said his group planned on hunting members of the banned Boko Haram terrorist organization this weekend and that the Boko Haram reprised by killing five vigilantes and 20 civilians. The civilians mostly included fishermen and traders.
It is proving to be hard for reporters to gather details of violence and the region is under a state of emergency at the moment.
