Violence in east Ukraine is escalating, says UN
August 14 , 2014
The United Nations has said that the death toll in the eastern Ukraine conflict has doubled in the past two weeks.
The violence had shown a “clear escalating trend,” the human rights office of the UN said.
Government troops have pushed back rebels in recent weeks and are now attempting to take back Donetsk city from the control of the pro-Russian fighters.
Meanwhile, the convoy of Russian trucks carrying “humanitarian aid” to east Ukraine has halted several hours away from the border.
