Venezuela's Armed Forces Contain Pre-Dawn Attack

  • Reports say that a small group of men carried out a pre-dawn attack in Valencia’s Paramacay military base of Venezuela. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reportedly said that the military base was stormed by 20 armed men just before 4am. The pre-dawn attack caught the guards off guard and the attackers were able to make it to the weapons supply of the base. On his weekly television programme, Maduro said that Venezuela's Bolivarian National Armed Forces, FANB, responded quickly and gunned down 2 attackers and injured another. Till now 7 attackers were arrested and 10 have fled. FANB, in a statement, claimed that the arrested persons confessed of being contracted “by far-right Venezuelan activists in connection with foreign governments”.
