USA-South Korea Agree to boost South Korean Defense Capabilities in Response to North Korean Threat

  • U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in to revise a joint treaty to develop ballistic missiles by South Korea. Trump administration has given “conceptual” approval of selling billion dollars worth U.S. military hardware to South Korea. Presidential Blue House of South Korea has said both the leaders have shared the view that it has become necessary for boosting defense capabilities of South Korea “in response to North Korea’s provocations and threats”.  Regional tension has reached a new high with North Korea launching its Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile that flew over Japan and dived in the Pacific Ocean.
