US to cut troops in Afghanistan
May 29 , 2014
President Obama has confirmed that the US is making an exit from Afghanistan, which may not be the bad news for Americans. Max Fischer of Vox writes that people are tired of war that has been so expensive without yielding substantial results.
"We will bring America's longest war to a responsible end," the president said, detailing how US forces will be out of the region by the end of 2016.
Media reports indicate that the United States currently has 32,000 troops in Afghanistan and their role after this year will focus on lending support to the Afghan security forces by disrupting Al Qaeda's threats.
