US Special Counsel Recommends Judge for 6 Months Imprisonment for Papadopoulos

  • Special Counsel Robert Mueller has recommended on Friday in a court filing that the former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos should be sentenced by a judge to 6 months imprisonment along with a fine of $9,500 for lying to federal agents about Russia’s interference during US Presidential election 2016. Last October, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty for lying to FBI agents and the sentencing is scheduled on September 7, 2018. Per Mueller’s sentencing memorandum to the judge, Papadopoulos lied about his contacts so that the federal agents don’t come to know about his contacts with Russians and Russian intermediaries during the 2016 US Presidential election.
