US Senator John McCain Dies at 81 Years due to Brain Cancer

  • The US Senator John McCain (a maverick Republican leader, a POW during the Vietnam war, senator from Arizona for over 30-years, and a staunch critic of current US President Donald Trump) has died at the age of 81 years after suffering from brain cancer (glioblastoma) since July 2017. While President Trump tweeted his “deepest sympathies and respect” to the family of John McCain, other living former US Presidents - Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama - also paid tribute to the Arizona Senator who also ran for the US Presidency in 2008. With his death, the number of Republicans in the 100-member US Senate comes down to 50 (49 seats being held by the Democrats) and the succession to McCain will be done only after his funeral.
