US Sells 6,700 Missiles to Saudi Arabia for Improving Security of a Friendly Country

  • Hours after Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met the US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis for discussing their need of bombing Houthi rebels in Yemen, State Department of the United States reportedly said they’ve approved sale of 6,700 anti-tank missiles to Saudi Arabia. Reports say the State Department has also notified the US Congress about the proposed sale, which is part of the $1 billion defense deal. The concerned defense deal also includes maintenance support for Saudi tanks as well as helicopters. It is learnt that main contractor of the missiles is Arizona-based Raytheon, Tucson. Rights group Amnesty International called the deal “irresponsible” as international law was violated repeatedly by all parties to the conflict.
