US: Protesters try to interrupt Trump's Inauguration

  • As Trump sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, protesters made it to streets to make themselves heard in the nation's capital on Friday. Protests caused damage to some city blocks along with disrupting security checkpoints at Donald Trump's inauguration, some clashes with police were reported.

    Though most of the demonstrations were non-violent, with people holding posters mentioning their concerns, they turned to ugly street clash later. Around six police officers were injured in the clashes and 217 demonstrators were in downtown Washington.

    Chaos erupted as "antifascist" in black cracked down the storefronts and bus stops and hurled rocks at a phalanx of cops. In response, Officers launched smoke and flash-bang devices to disperse the crowds.

    Anti-Trump protests were also seen in the cities of New York, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago and Portland, Oregon. Demonstrations were also seen overseas in Hong Kong, Berlin and London.

    People wearing shirts that spelled out "R-E-S-I-S-T" intend on disrupting the swearing-in ceremony, and reached to the closest section of seats to Trump. As Trump took the oath of office, people shouted "We the people!"

    Clashes were also reported between Trump supporters and protesters throughout the day. Some of the clashes even turned violent.
