US President Steps Up War of Words over Trade War with European Union

  • US President Donald Trump didn’t stop by announcing increased global duties on metals (25 per cent on steel and 10 per cent on aluminium) and went on to step up war of words with European Commission (trade arm of European Union) by threatening to apply tax on car imports from EU that “freely pour into the US”. The move comes hours after European Commission chief reportedly considered slapping 25 per cent tariffs on around $3.5 Billion imports (including Harley-Davidson, Levi's jeans, and Bourbon whisky) from the USA. Trump also highlighted USA’s “$800 Billion Dollar Yearly Trade Deficit” in one of his recent tweets.
