US President Expresses Interest to Meet North Korea's Kim Jong-un at DMZ after G20 Summit

  • The US President Donald Trump has asked North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un (through a tweet) to meet him at the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between North Korea and South Korea. In the concerned tweet, the US President also mentioned that he wants to shake hands with Kim Jong-un in the DMZ after having a meeting with the Chinese President Xi Jinping during the G20-summit. Trump went on to say that he will fly off from Japan’s G20 Summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit South Korea as per schedule. During an interaction with the media, the US President Trump said: “If he's there, we'll see each other for two minutes and that's fine.”  North Korea’s first vice-minister for foreign affairs, Choe Son Hui, reacted by saying that it is “a very interesting suggestion” but also noted that they haven’t received any “official proposal in this regard” yet.
