US President Donald Trump Postpones G7 Summit by calling it "Outdated", Includes 4 Countries as Invitee
May 31 , 2020
US President Donald Trump has said that he is postponing the G7 Summit until September 2020. Trump said that he is postponing the G7 Summit because he feels the existing G7 grouping doesn’t properly represent “what’s going on in the world” currently. The announcement of postponing the G7 Summit came after German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced that she will not attend the summit due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He made the announcement while speaking to the media on Air Force One during his return from Florida’s Cape Canaveral to Washington. He went on to call the G7 grouping of the most advanced economies as “a very outdated group of countries”. While making the announcement, US President Donald Trump went on to say that he is going to expand the list of invitees to include India, South Korea, Russia, and Australia.
