US President Donald Trump Opts out of G7 Joint Statement, Lashes out at Canada

  • The US President Donald Trump opted out of the G7 Summit’s joint statement and lashed out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for attacking the United States only in press conference but acting “meek and mild” during meetings. Trudeau said President Trump’s invoking of national security for justifying tariffs is an insult for Canada. In a press conference, Canadian PM said his countrymen “are polite and reasonable”. However, they don’t like to be pushed around. Trudeau also vowed to impose retaliatory tariffs against the US, which will come into effect from July 1, 2018. The joint communique of G7 Summit called for a “rules-based trading system”.
