US President Donald Trump Delivers July 4 Independence Day Speech, Draws Criticism of Fueling Racial Tension
July 5 , 2020
The US President Donald Trump has said during his July 4 Independence Day speech that America has won over the virus despite surging cases of COVID-19 infection in the USA. He said: “We’re on our way to a tremendous victory” and went on to claim that 99% of cases found through testing were “totally harmless”. As protests sweep the United States, President Trump during his Fourth July speech vowed to defeat the radical left and “fight... to preserve the American way of life”. During his speech to honor Independence Day, the US President Donald Trump said: “American heroes defeated the Nazis, dethroned the fascists, toppled the communists, saved American values, upheld American principles and chased down the terrorists to the very ends of the earth… We are now in the process of defeating the radical left, the Marxists, the anarchists, the agitators, the looters, and people who in many instances have absolutely no clue what they are doing.” Trump’s Independence Day speech had a militaristic theme involving Air Force flyovers and tanks parked on display. Flyover of various aircraft including B-52 bombers and F-35 fighter jets took place after the US President Donald Trump's Independence Day address to the nation. However, Trump’s Democratic opponent at the upcoming US Presidential election in November, Joe Biden accused President Trump of fueling racial tension and went on to say that the time has come for the US to provide “the marginalized, the demonized, the isolated, the oppressed a full share of the American dream”.
