US President calls North Korea's Nuclear Weapons "Extraordinary Threat", Renews Sanctions
June 23 , 2018
The US President Donald Trump has made a sharp u-turn after his June 13 tweet that said there's no “Nuclear Threat from North Korea”. In a matter of 10 days from his earlier tweet, Trump has now renewed sanctions on DPRK, citing “extraordinary threat” from North Korea’s nuclear weapons. The move comes at a time when Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White told media that the US Secretary Mattis has “suspended select exercises” in coordination with South Korea for supporting implementation of Singapore Summit’s outcomes. She also announced suspension of Freedom Guardian as well as two Marine Exchange Program training exercises with South Korea, scheduled for coming 3 months. The spokesperson also said additional measures will also be implemented if DPRK follows “suit with productive cooperation”.
