US Policy Change separates 2,000 children from Families in Six Weeks
June 16 , 2018
US Department of Homeland Security’s figures shows that 1,995 children were forced to be separated from their parents (1,940 adults) in 6 weeks time (April 13 to May 31, 2018) due to Trump administration’s change in policy regarding illegal border-crossing from Mexico. While Attorney General Jeff Sessions cited the Bible for defending Trump Administration's "zero tolerance" approach towards border migration from Mexico, a political storm is brewing on this issue in the United States. Before Trump Administration misdemeanor offense was charged on adults crossing Mexican border and entering the US. However, Trump administration now detains adults crossing the Mexico border, separating the minors traveling with them. These separated children are then classed as unaccompanied minors.
