'US must lead the way on torture policy'
December 16 , 2014
Actress and director Angelina Jolie says that the United States must lead the way against torture.
A US Senate report revealed last week that the CIA’s treatment of al-Qaeda suspects during interrogation was “brutal” in the years after 9/11.
Jolie told BBC Arabic that there were reasons why “we have Geneva Conventions and we must follow them.”
She said as Americans and as a leading democracy, “we have to lead the way and handle ourselves” in ways that are “respectful to other human beings."
