US mulls military patrols of China's artificial islands in South China Sea

  • The US is reportedly considering sending military aircraft and ships to ensure free navigation around the widening artificial islands built by China in the South China Sea.

According to media reports, the Pentagon has sought options which include sending aircraft and ships close to reefs in Spratly Islands where China is carrying out building activity.

China claims nearly the entire South China Sea, but other nations in the region have their own claims over the waters.
