US man attempts to swim to North Korea, detained

  • An American national who was attempting to swim across a heavily militarized river border to North Korea was detained by South Korean troops, reports said.

The man reportedly said that he wanted to meet the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.

He was found lying on the Han river’s southern bank, where he was discovered by a South Korean border patrol.

A year ago, South Korean soldiers shot and killed a South Korean national attempting to swim across another part of the river border to North Korea.
