US intel on Syria attack sat unprocessed

  • Latest Updates - US Attacks Syria

US was able to warn the potential victims in Syria when it learned of plans but Washington didn't end up finding out about the chemical attack until after it happened.

A representative of national intelligence said "the United States did not watch in real time, as this horrible attack took place."

However, intelligence regarding the prepping of this attack had reached the US three days before the actual attack. Officials said it hadn't yet been processed.

There had been a lot of intelligence from Libya, Yemen and Syria coming in and military communications required processing.

It was only when Syrians themselves reported the chemical weapons attack that the US uncovered the evidence suggesting that the Syrian regime had been preparing these weapons prior to the attack.
