US House speaker invites Netanyahu to speak on Iran
January 22 , 2015
The United States House speaker John Boehner confirmed on Wednesday, January 21, that he had invited Israel’s Prime MN Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak to Congress on the “grave threats” posed by Iran and radical Islam to “our security and way of life.”
The move by the Republican speaker is being seen as a snub to the U.S. President Barack Obama’s veto threat to additional sanctions on Iran, according to media reports.
According to the White House, fresh sanctions could derail negotiations aimed at securing a deal on the country’s nuclear program.
