US House of Representatives votes to maintain Cuba travel restrictions

The House of Representatives, which is controlled by the Republicans, has voted to maintain restrictions on American nationals traveling to Cuba, though there has been a warming of ties between the two countries in recent months.
The US chamber rebuffed proposals that would have permitted regular scheduled flights to Cuba. A rule requiring US citizens to obtain a special license before visiting the island has not been discarded.
The Obama administration’s attempts to revive relations with Cuba have met with stiff resistance from a section of Republicans.
