US hostage freed after 5 years

  • The Taliban has freed American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who is finally coming home after five years.

Media notes that the man went missing in 2009 in Afghanistan and had been the only American soldier held captive in the region. Officials mentioned that Bergdahl appears to be in a good condition but is being kept under the care of military doctors.

President Obama made the effort to personally deliver the good news to his family and released a statement saying that the 28-year-old is "a reminder of America's unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield."
