US, EU Reject Extending Laptop Ban to Flights from Europe

  • As per reports, the US and EU have come to a decision of rejecting a ban on laptops and tablets in cabin baggage on flights from Europe. However, a four-hour meeting in Brussels, where threats to aviation security were discussed, officials mentioned that other measures were still under consideration.

Earlier US officials had said that the extension of ban on electronics to Europe on flights was for eight mostly Muslim countries.

The recent meeting was conducted over requests of EU officials after reports suggested that the US authorities would be coming up with information regarding laptop parts being turned into explosives.

The US officials assured their EU counterparts that the meeting indicated better communication on security issues under President Donald Trump.
