US-Egypt ties "a vital relationship" says John Kerry
November 4 , 2013
US Secretary of State, John Kerry, who is in Egypt on his first official visit after the Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was ousted in July this year, has stated that "President Obama and the American people support the people of Egypt" and that the US views its relationship with Egypt as "a vital relationship."
The US had suspended the provision of millions of dollars of military aid to Egypt after President Mohammed Morsi was removed from office and the Egyptian government cracked down on the Muslim Brotherhood. Stating that US ties with Egypt go deeper than aid, John Kerry reiterated that US humanitarian support to Egypt would continue. Kerry's visit to Egypt is his first stop on a 10-day trip to Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
