Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, has resigned from his job.
The death of the unarmed black teenager had sparked months of protest in Ferguson.
A grand jury earlier decided against indicting the 28-year-old white officer.
In his resignation letter Wilson indicated that his continuing in the force would put “residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk”.
