US-China takes their Bilateral Discord to APEC Summit in Papua New Guinea

  • Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit on Saturday became a venue for both the United States and China to swap barbs over the contentious matters such as regional security, investment, and trade. While addressing the audience at APEC summit in Papua New Guinea, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that protectionism and unilateralism are restricting global growth. During his speech at the summit, the US Vice President Mike Pence responded by saying that the increased American tariffs on Chinese products would continue until China change its ways. Pence took a direct dig at the Chinese President by suggesting that countries shouldn’t accept any kind of debt, which compromises their sovereignty.
