US Begins Extreme Vetting at Offshore Detention Centers in Australia
May 23 , 2017
As per reports, extreme vetting interviews were started by the US Homeland Security officials at Australia's offshore detention centers on Tuesday.
As mentioned by some refugees, interviews started with an oath to God to tell the truth. It then continued for around six hours, where associates, family, friends were questioned to find out if they have any interactions with the Islamic State militant group.
Last month the Trump administration said that the agreement to provide refuge to at least 1,250 asylum seekers in the centers would be taken forward if refugees satisfied strict checks.
These interviews were the last stage of US consideration of applicants.
