US and Russia strike deal on Syria

  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have agreed on the plan that will allow the destruction of the chemical weapons in Syria.

According to the deal, UN inspectors will be in Syria by November and Bashar- al-Assad is expected to submit a list of his arsenal within one week.

The destruction of weapons will begin next year and there will be penalties or sanctions in case Syria doesn't comply.

Kerry mentioned that this plan, if successful could allow for "greater protection and security to the world" and  that Assad is expected to turn over all his chemical weapons without any delay and allow a full accounting for the same.

"But he isn't about to do it, and it can't be done," Kerry said.
